Minnesota Food Association

Minnesota Food Association (registered 501C3 nonprofit organization) actively pursues the mission to build a more sustainable food system by growing and distributing food, bringing new farmers into farming through training immigrant farmers, and networking, partnering and sharing with many diverse community-based organizations, nonprofits, foundations, government, local businesses, and institutions.  Now celebrating its 25th year, MFA operates with the goal of ReLocalizing Food Systemsmore

Summer Family Fest - Saturday, August 9, 2008, We had a great time!
Many friends and family members showed up for a beautiful day on the farm. There was plenty to do to keep everyone busy and enjoying the relaxing day. Barbara Tilsen performed wonderful interactive children's music, there were hayrides and the first sweet corn of the year was among the many tasty treats.  Thanks to everyone who helped make the day special.  Get ready for the Harvest Party on October 11.

Big River Farms CSA (formerly May Farm)- 2008  Deliveries have begun. Farm pick-up, home deliveries and Thursday deliveries began on Thursday, June 26 and Monday deliveries began on Monday, June 30 and will continue until October 27th. 

Minnesota Food Association and the Association for the Advancement of Hmong Women of Minnesota recieve Community Partnership Award!
The USDA - Farm Service Agency awarded the 2008 FSA Community
Partnership Award to the Minnesota Food Association and the Associatioin for the Advancement of Hmong Women in Minnesota on June 10,2008 at a ceremony held at the USDA State Outreach Council meeting.  The award was given in recognition of the long-standing efforts in supporting new immigrant farmers get started in building viable farming enterprises and for co-hosting the 3rd Minority and Immigrant Farming Conference held last March in St.Paul.


MFA in Pioneer Press
In the September 2nd issue of the Pioneer Press, MFA was highlighted in an article entitled "Fresh on the Farm" by Bob Shaw. Detailing urban Minnesotans increasing involvement in agriculture, the article talked about the New Immigrant Agriculture Project and Big River Foods.
