Local Food Systems

Minnesota Food Association's commitment to ReLocalizing Food systems means that we partner with other organizations and government entities to develop sustainable strategies that increases both the number of sustainable/organic farmers and the number of markets in which their product can be sold.

Our strategy to impact local food systems is based on the following fair trade principles for domestic farmers

Fair profits for the farmers
Fair prices for the consumer
Fair wages for the farm workers
Non-extraction of soil, people, and community

"We abuse the land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect."
