Produce Farming

Produce Farmers are already farming and selling their produce at local seasonal markets who need assistance in order to achieve a measure of economic stability.

We provide produce farmers up to 3 acres of land for crops grown for market (amount of land depends upon availability). We offer Individualized training on food safety, financial management and record-keeping, crop production strategies, and marketing, MFA draws upon its unique curriculum, Breaking New Ground: Learning to Manage a Small-scale Farm in the United States to provide technical assistance tailored to each farmer's individual circumstances,

MFA is exploring additional ways to help produce farmers earn a living wage through the development of food business services, such as our new food brokering service (Big River Foods) that connects farmers with local resturants, groceries, and other food distributors.

"We abuse the land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect."
